For centuries, the Marlborough Sounds have provided safe harbour to those that travel to New Zealand. The intricate detail of the Sounds engage your interest immediately, offering visitors new landscapes and rejuvenating experiences.
Highlights can include:
- bordered by forest that rises almost vertically from the water's edge, three drowned river valleys offer 1500 kilometres of sheltered beaches 🐚 and waterways for ⛵sailing, 🛥️cruising, 🛶kayaking, 🎣fishing and🐟diving
- On land, the spectacular Queen Charlotte Track👟 winds through 71 kilometres of native forest, along ridges and beside idyllic coves. Travel with a local guide to learn about the habitat and hear the local Maori legends. Or you can follow the impressive Nydia Track👟 to Tennyson Inlet. Both have options to mountain bike too 🚵
- Visiting the tiny settlement of French Pass and offshore D'Urville Island is as remote as you can get, and home to a viewpoint where you can witness the tide rushing back and forth like a river 🌊

Sit back and relax. We've planned it all for you.
Day 1 : Arrive in the Marlborough Sounds
You can travel to your resort by helicopter, but many enjoy winding through the waterways by water taxi from either Picton or Havelock.
Keep an eye out for dolphins and other wildlife as you go, and instantly relax as you watch the picturesque surroundings pass you by.
Upon arrival you'll check in to your accommodation, settle in and get acquainted with your surroundings for the next 2 nights. Get to know your surroundings and relax the afternoon away. Before sampling local seafood delicacies matched with a glass of award-winning Marlborough wine.
Day 2 : explore by foot, mountain bike or sea kayak
Feel free to do absolutely nothing today, but if you are feeling active you'll easily find awesome escapades you can adventure on, no matter where you stay.
First thing, it makes sense to set your alarm early so you can hear the delightful birdsong sound as the day begins. Then later, on land you can wander or mountainbike through lush forest with views of the coast never far away.
Alternatively, get out on the water and be surrounded by the hills on either side of you as you navigate your way through these drowned river valleys.
As always, we'll arrange dinner for you to delight in and celebrate your last night in this region at one of our favourite restaurants in the area.
Day 3 : Depart the Marlborough Sounds
When it comes time to farewell this special part of New Zealand As always, we'll be there to direct you on to your next adventure, wherever you want that to be.
